The NFCT is an all volunteer non profit that provide opportunities for folks on the East

End to both see and participate in live theatre! There are countless ways to get

involved. No matter whether you are in the audience for a show or two a year, helping

paint sets, or ushering, it is a great way to contribute.

I, Mary Motto Kalich am the Director of the show. I have directed, produced, acted in,

and have been a part of the crew for dozens of NFCT shows since I was a teenager.

The NFCT’s show is very similar to the original movie with a few extra scenes.

Audiences will recognize the classic story as they see Dorothy “Follow the Yellow Brick

Road to Oz

Over 30 actors with another 30 crew members, all volunteer their time to put on this

show. They are as young as 8, with the kids playing the munchkins, teenagers as

featured dancers, and adults as the main characters. Audience members will be

delighted by Designer Robert Taylor’s Special Effects.

The Wizard of Oz is a classic because it makes us all think of our own family and friends

who we care about, and how, although we may make new friends and have adventures,

we are so happy to come back to them. It is also fun here ,the beautiful and well-known

songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

The Wizard of Oz is appropriate for all ages, with the caveat that two Evil Witches die –

One by a house falling on them, and another by a bucket of water.

The Wizard of Oz is very important to me personally. As a child in the 80, each

member of my family was assigned a role in the Wizard of Oz. With my sister Nancy

directing, we filmed our own Motto Family version of the Wizard of Oz. That old footage

is near and dear to my heart with glimpses of each of my 8 siblings and my parents of what they looked like in 1981.
