Harbes Family Farm: A Happy Place to Visit for All.

Located in historic Jamesport, Long Island, Harbes Family Farm is a tranquil retreat containing an impressive mix of heritage, family tradition and sustainability. As Long Island’s first certified sustainable vineyard, Harbes Family Farm has been a 35-year institution in the hearts of residents and tourists for its lush surroundings and bounty.

The Harbes Family: An Agrarian History

Harbes Family Farm is more than 13 generations old, and has been farming continuously since western Europe. The family moved to Long Island in the 1920s and since then is associated with lush North Fork scenery. The farm’s owners, Ed and Monica Harbes, had a fresh vision for the land in 1978, introducing the fertile soils of Long Island to new life.

Evolving Memory and Family Traditions

Harbes Family Farm is proof of the resilience of community and memories. In what started off as just selling corn and tomatoes, the farm has grown to a dynamic attraction that offers visitors many fun activities. Add hayrides, corn mazes and the scent of roasted sweet corn to these attractions and it’s hard not to see the farm turning into a North Fork gem.

A Gift of Games and Activities for the Complete Family.

Just step out on to the Harbes Family Farm property and you will experience pure joy and leisure. From apple and pumpkin picking to walking through gorgeous sunflower gardens (and Maze), there’s lots going on on the farm. For little ones there are bounce pads, playgrounds, and savoury encounters with the farm animals. In the meantime, you and the family can enjoy a feast of delicious country foods, including roasted corn, candy and caramel apples, farm fresh potato chips, cookies, hot dogs, freshly made mozzarella and tomato paninis, kettle corn, apple cider donuts, grilled cheese paninis, applewood-smoked turkey legs, hot/cold cider, and apple cider slushes.

Packages and Rates:

To set out on a journey to Harbes Family Farm, two tempting packages can help. The Apple Admission Package ($23 per person): Pick apple with a 3-lb. bag, ride on the Apple Express tractor-drawn train, and live music in the courtyard. If you’re looking for a total package, the Combo Admission package ($28 per person) includes added surprises like the Robin Hood Trivia Challenge Corn Maze and entry to the visually spectacular Sunflower Fields (only while flowers are in bloom).

Social Responsibility and Sustainability.

Harbes Family Farm is deeply invested in sustainability and land stewardship. Using sustainable agriculture, the farm uses local compost, crop rotation, and low-till farming practices to maintain soil health and reduce ecological footprint. More than 50 acres are in conservation easement, and farmland will be conserved for posterity.
