October 16th is International/Global Cat Day
Dear Cat-Loving Parents,
This Global Cat Day, we celebrate the theme "Cats Are Community TM," highlighting the undeniable truth that cats have been integral to our communities for millennia. They hold a special place in our lives and deserve to be cherished and protected.
Our feline friends are not just pets; they are family members, friends, and neighbors who coexist with us both indoors and outdoors. Our bond with them transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, as love for cats is a universal language.
However, despite our enduring history with cats, they face numerous daily threats to their well-being. Global Cat Day serves as a reminder for all of us to advocate for cats, to be their voice, and to stand up for their rights as valued members of our communities.
We envision a future where lethal and outdated policies that harm cats are abolished worldwide. Animal shelters and government authorities should prioritize humane and evidence-based programs that benefit cats and communities.
Why cats make great kid companions
Cats can make excellent companions for kids for several reasons:
- They are often low-maintenance pets, which can be ideal for busy families. Cats are independent animals and can entertain themselves for long periods, making them an excellent choice for families with active schedules.
