1) Custer Institute and Observatory -Southold
The observatory will host a viewing from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The ticketed event includes a glimpse through their state-of-the-art telescopes and a pair of certified safe viewing glasses. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children under 16, and $5 for observatory members. There is limited space, and registration is strongly encouraged.

Meet at the Upper Parking Lot. Retired Professor of Astronomy and Geology George Lomaga will bring viewing equipment, including his telescope, with a solar viewing lens. Parks staff will provide activities and interpretation of the eclipse and we will watch to see its effects on wildlife in the area. Registered participants will also receive a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses.

Education table with glasses and information. Glasses were distributed at JBENC and by educators posted by the Jones Beach Administration / Central Mall Boardwalk. Educators and Park Rangers will walk around with a made viewer and talk to the public, handing out glasses as educators roam. Environmental Educators will partner with Professors and Graduate Students from Stony Brook University Geosciences and Astronomy and Planetary Sciences departments to educate park patrons during the eclipse event.

Long Island, New York will experience a partial solar eclipse, maximum time @ 3:26pm, the total experience lasting only a few seconds. Come to the Children's room and view live the solar eclipse experience across the United States via NASA. Stay for a solar eclipse snack.
