I loved it!
I have been adding events from Michaels since January. They offer monthly classes on various art projects and DIYs for all age ranges. I found a couple of classes that sparked my interest; I wanted to try them. However, I was hesitant as they were "online" classes. I thought to myself….how will I learn anything for the art project in a Zoom-type call?
So, I love the idea of Resin art. I already make jewelry from shells, and I have so much fun. (The shell jewelry sells well in the summer, out here, on the east end) I decided to take the jewelry-making area to the next level. I signed up for the resin jewelry-making class at Michaels this past Friday.
To log into the class, you must wait before it is set to start. Michaels texts you a code. You click the link you registered from or on the link in the events calendar on Macaroni Kid Riverhead's homepage. (Register if you have not already) About 5 minutes before the class starts, the enter to join class button lights up. Click and join.
Enter the Zoom class….The instructor introduced herself, and we were off. She was great! She had a great pace; you could see everything she was doing, and she spoke clearly. Like in all Zoom calls, a chat panel asks questions. She answered all mine and everyone else's. The lesson started easy and worked its way to more advanced. The instructor made it seamless, and she never lost my full attention. (My ADD was shocked)
I loved the Zoom-type art lesson far better than I thought I would. It may be better than an in-person class. Yup, I said it! No driving, in your own place and space, and no cost to learn. It is different for some of the project-making classes. You must purchase the necessary supplies in advance to do the work at home. The class itself is free, not the supplies. That part is misleading. I therefore changed how I posted the events from Michaels, saying "Class Free" instead of free. I will now also list the supplies you will need for the project.
All in all, Michaels has some great classes both online and in-store. Try one out for yourself or for you and the kids! There is some great fun to be had there!
